For the Happiness of Someone other than Ourselves
Many people know Toyota as a car company, but we’re so much more than that. We are passionate about serving the communities where we work, live and play. Our efforts go beyond monetary with the aim of enriching society and strengthening communities.
Toyota’s founding principle is the wish for people to be happy and for their hometown to be prosperous. In the same way as we think about making ever better cars, we want to think about making ever-better communities, and an ever-better future.
From time to time, local organisations benefit from donations from our Burnaston and Deeside facilities.
As and when available, local schools and colleges receive parts and components which are used as training aids. Ex-trial vehicles are also donated to support local schools and colleges, as well as the emergency services. Please note that criteria exist as part of our donations policy.
Food Bank Donations
Our annual Salvation Army Foodbank appeal is always well supported by our Members who generously donate food, toys and money and 2023 was no exception.
Meanwhile, at Deeside, members and the Trust came together in a magnificent effort to collect donations as part of its ‘Kindness at Christmas’ campaign in aid of the Flintshire Foodbank.
Blood Bikes
Toyota Manufacturing UK Charitable Trust fund two new sets of wheels to help keep Blood Bikes on the road.
The Toyota Manufacturing UK Charitable Trust recently made two extra special donations to coincide with Toyota's 30th anniversary of manufacturing in the UK.
Blood Bikes Wales recieved funding to purchase a new motorcycle, which they have named 'Carina', after the Carina E, the model name of the first car to roll off our Burnaston production line 30 years ago. In addiition, Derbyshire Blood Bikes recieved a Derbyshire build Toyota Corolla Hybrid.
Cars and Components
Since 2015, a total of 162 vehicles have been donated, 133 of which were to both Derbyshire and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Services. In June 2011, Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service launched its pioneering ‘Transformer’ vehicle. Using a Toyota Avensis, students from Derby University were able to build a vehicle which, is today, considered a valuable addition, not only to their training resources, but also key in road safety initiatives. The “Transformer” vehicle has been used to educate other emergency services in the many options available to them when faced with casualty extrication. Neighbouring Fire Services such as Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire have visited Derbyshire Fire Service following the creation of the ‘Transformer’, which has not only allowed for a better transfer of information between services, but also a far superior working relationship between the Training Centres. This has, ultimately, contributed greatly to service delivery, not only within Derbyshire, but on a national scale. Engagement with and education of young drivers, as part of their Road Traffic Collision Reduction Initiative, has also been made possible. Key has also been the education of their own firefighters to observe the techniques and methods used to extract casualties over and over again with little cost, whilst keeping entrapment times to an absolute minimum. The ‘Transformer’ has reached as far away as South Africa, with enquiries to create something similar in order to educate medics in their own country.
Other Donations
Based on “Respect for Others” as described in our Basic Philosophy, we strive to fulfil our role as a good corporate citizen in every region where we do business and actively engage in social contribution activities to realize an enriched and healthy society.
As part of our commitment to supporting local communities, as well as donating cars and components, we also provide support through a wide range of other donations.
