Members donate to Hope Centre
When a request for help came to Toyota via their link with Business in the Community, TMUK members rallied to support those less fortunate.
Having placed collection boxes throughout the plant, donations soon poured in, from books to games to pop up tents! Some of which had never been opened and remained in their original packaging.
The first recipient was The Hope Centre in Derby who undertake amazing work to support those in crisis, including the young, the elderly, low-income families, single parents, refugees and asylum seekers, of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds living in poverty.
Dee Das (pictured below) from the Hope Centre said “The Hope Centre food bank is well known for its work within the Community, but few people realise that it has another department - The Hope Store. I have been volunteering at The Hope Store for six months and 2020 has been a tough experience. We provide clothing and household items to those in need - literally anything that would be needed to start a basic home. We also have a small toy section, which is a great distraction for children when their parents are being kitted out with clothing and homeware.
Having visited Toyota, I was completely overwhelmed to see such a wonderful selection of toys, games and books donated by their staff. Our small toy section has been boosted so much and it is magical to see children’s faces when they get to choose items to take home. Thank you to everyone who contributed - it has made a real difference to so many.
If you have items that you would like to donate, please contact the Hope Centre directly on 01332 341189 or Dee Das on 07981 083241.
