Proud to support the Derby Food Forum Network.

The first charity to benefit from the use our Proace was the Steering Group of the Derby Food Forum Network, who collected the vehicle in May last year.

Having established its emergency Covid response, 10 Local Food Distribution Hubs were set up, supporting all 17 wards in the city, in addition to 3 satellite services, working alongside hubs in Chellaston, Abbey Ward & Mackworth. Operating 7 days a week, their services continued during evenings, weekends & even public holidays.

Used daily, over a three-month period, our Proace enabled the extension of their bulk collection and distribution service. It was used to collect local co-ordinated donations and access bulk supplies, which included orange juice, crisps, 5,000 eggs and even an amazing 1,400 pallets of doughnuts! They were also able to continue weekly pickups from Morrisons and distribute food parcels across the city, including homeless shelters and the elderly afro Caribbean community.

The Steering Group is currently working with the City Council, Cabinet Members & local businesses to establish a sustainable model that enables an exit strategy from Covid 19 emergency support to deliver a coherent and sustainable provision for those in need within the city. They plan to continue to address peoples’ needs (including food support) but move away from the focus of free food provision, which can be seen as the ‘solution’ to people’s needs. To make this new model work, a permanent central storage warehouse and a vehicle is essential, and they are pursuing how to access permanent options.

The Toyota Manufacturing UK Charitable Trust are proud to have had the opportunity to support their amazing work in our local community and we look forward to supporting again in the future.
